Career Services Resources at CTU Denver South

The job market can be a competitive place. To pursue your professional goals, you may need to be persistent and tap into all of your available resources. If you are a CTU online or Denver South campus student, one of those resources includes career services. We offer tools and resources to support you while you pursue your goals, including LinkedIn training, professional networking, interview prep, resume and cover letter reviews, employer spotlights and events.

Career Planning

Career planning is not about helping you land a job. It’s about teaching you how to identify multiple opportunities that may be a good fit for your skillsets and personality and that can provide you with career satisfaction. It’s also about reducing stress during the job search and improving your job search skills such as networking, interviewing and negotiating offers.

At CTU Denver South, we provide career services resources designed to help you set goals, plan, and execute your job search. Whether you’re just starting your career or seeking a career transition, we can help you with the following:

  • Identify and understand your strengths so you can prepare to leverage them
  • Develop a career action plan and job search strategy
  • Explore best practices for maneuvering through a competitive job market
  • Enhance your professional identity online and on paper
  • Improve your interviewing skills

Everyone needs support – think about golf, ballet or playing an instrument. Most of us aren’t experts the first time we try. Even with practice, we may need help. Managing your career is no different. Many people don’t have a ton of experience at the onset of a job search or a career transition, and they need help. This is where CTU comes in: no matter where you are in your career, our team is here to help you prepare for the outcome that you want, create a clear path for achieving it, and practice the skills you need to reach your goals.

Career Exploration

Drawing from years of experience in the local job market, CTU has developed strategies for conducting a job search. We can help students and alumni put these strategies to work to identify opportunities that match their interests and abilities and pursue them. In addition, students can attend our webinars, which can also help to lay the groundwork for a successful job search process and connect students to job search resources. Some of the services we provide are designed to help you:

  • Organize your job search with tools such as job search roadmaps, activity tracking apps, job search sites, job boards and more
  • Plan an appropriate wardrobe for career fairs, job interviews and networking activities
  • Grasp the ins and outs of the “hidden” and “visible” job market, and learn how to explore opportunities in each
  • Create an attention-getting resume
  • Find potential job opportunities through networking and social media
  • Showcase your skills, experience, and personal traits in an interview setting

Resume and Cover Letter Assistance

In a competitive job market, it’s not enough to send a generic cover letter and resume to employers. You need to tailor both documents to the position you’re seeking, and each must convey how your strengths match the requirements of the position. Our career services resources include certified professionals, and they can help you create a compelling cover letter and resume as well as adapt each document to address the specific job opportunities you’re pursuing.

In addition, in this day and age, one of the first hurdles a job applicant may need to overcome is technology. Many organizations now use automated applicant tracking systems to screen their candidates. We can provide useful tips on how to effectively navigate these systems.

Denver Area and Online Events

CTU hosts a variety of company spotlights, networking activities and workshops – all of which help students explore their potential career options, learn how best to present themselves and their materials, and even meet employers that are hiring for open positions. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by your job search, attending an event can be a great way to organize your efforts and lessen your anxiety. Our career services events feature any number of activities designed to help you align your interests and career goals with a job search strategy that works for you.
