Chapter 33: Post 9/11 GI Bill®
If you have at least 90 days of aggregate active duty service after September 10, 2001, and you are an honorably discharged Veteran or were discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days, you are eligible for Post 9/11 GI Bill® benefits. Officers of the Public Health Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration may also be eligible. There’s more information about eligibility on the VA website here http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/post911_gibill.asp.
Monthly benefits are administered through the US Department of Veterans Affairs to CTU and based on your rate of pursuit and length of service percentage. Assistance for correspondence training, entrepreneurship training, flight training, independent and distance learning, undergraduate and graduate degrees, and more are eligible for assistance under the Post 9/11® GI Bill.
The Post 9/11 GI Bill® provides up to 36 months of education benefits, generally payable for 15 years following your release from active duty.
The Yellow Ribbon Program and Transfer of Entitlement Option are both available under the Post 9/11 GI Bill®.
