Background
Bethany Shoemaker is the Clinical Coordinator at Colorado Technical University. In this role, she collaborates with students to secure practicum sites and preceptors, facilitates partnerships with affiliated clinical sites, and supports student progression through the practicum courses.
Prior to entering higher education, Bethany practiced in the hospital setting with specialties in obstetrics and oncology. She joined CTU as a member of the Student Advising Department before becoming part of the College of Nursing. In the Clinical Coordinator role, Bethany enjoys facilitating the development of strong professionals by assisting students with an important part of their program. She believes the practicum experience is vital in teaching students how to function as change agents and leaders in their roles.
Bethany remains active in the nursing profession as a member of Sigma Theta Tau and the Oncology Nursing Society. She has published about pediatric abusive head trauma and has conducted research about the principles of servant leadership in nurse midwifery.
