Chapter 1607: Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP)
Reserve Educational Assistance Program is an educational assistance program enacted by Congress to provide benefits to members of the reserve components who are called or ordered to active service in response to a war or national emergency as declared by the President or Congress. The reserve components consist of Army Reserve, Naval Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard and the Air National Guard.
You may be eligible for REAP if you served on active duty on or after September 11, 2001 for at least 90 days, performed full-time National Guard duty for 90 consecutive days when responding to a national emergency, or you are a member called or ordered to active service while serving in the Selected Reserve and continued to serve. You are entitled to 36 months of benefits under REAP.
Reserve Educational Assistance Program benefits can be applied to a variety of approved training, including undergraduate or graduate degree programs, certificate or diploma from a business, technical or vocational school, apprenticeship or on-the-job training, correspondence courses and more.
