U.S. News and World Report, a globally respected organization and authority in education rankings, assessed institutions based on four categories: student engagement, faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, and peer reputation. Only regionally accredited institutions whose programs are offered mostly or entirely online are considered for the Online Programs rankings. Considering this criteria, CTU was acknowledged among the following 2019 online degree program categories:

- Best Online Bachelor’s Programs (5th consecutive year)
- Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans (5th consecutive year)
- Best Online Graduate Criminal Justice Programs (5th consecutive year)
- Best Online MBA Programs (4th consecutive year)
- Best Online Graduate Business Programs – Excluding MBA (4th consecutive year)
- Best Online Graduate Computer Information Technology Programs (5th consecutive year)
- Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs (2nd consecutive year)
- Best Online Nursing Programs (1st year submitted)
