At Colorado Technical University, our goal is to provide our students with an education that is industry-relevant and effective. To ensure we reach our goals, we employ a comprehensive assessment process and conduct research to provide a comprehensive set of learnings and outcomes for each degree, course and the university as a whole. We also research what employers are saying about the performance of our alumni in the workplace and how their CTU education has impacted the career progression of our alumni. The results from our research enable us to make adjustments and improvements to our curricula that benefit our students and their future employers. Additionally, the learnings and outcomes serve as a guide for our students as they make informed decisions on what degree to pursue and what they may be able to expect post-graduation.

  • Colorado Technical University has defined processes for assessing and identifying standards for what our students are learning. Our Statement of Value of Academic Assessment reinforces the fact that these processes ensure that our programs are continually improving and meeting the needs of students. CTU determines a set of course outcomes, program outcomes and university outcomes. With this model CTU ensures students are receiving the education they deserve from the organization, their degree program and each individual course.

    While faculty continually assess student learning in courses, each academic program assesses its learning outcomes on a periodic schedule based on program needs. Student work samples are collected at regular intervals and scored by qualified faculty using standard rubrics. Based on the analysis of the scored samples, program leaders make changes to the curriculum. This continuous improvement cycle continues with the implementation of the changes and reassessment of student work to determine the quality of the improvements.

  • To further help students understand the outcomes of their degree, a selection of possible career paths is available on each degree page. The career titles are provided by Burning Glass, and results are based upon an analysis of over 7 million current job listings compiled from over 17,000 sources – the world’s most comprehensive repository of job openings.*

  • Starting in 2012, CTU began a longitudinal study of the impact of higher education on its graduates' career progression. Each year the study surveys alumni who graduated from CTU one, three, five, and ten years prior.
