Students enrolled in CTU's ASM degree need to complete 93 quarter-credits in all. Since CTU uses a quarter-based system, this is equivalent to 60 credits using a semester-based system. The degree is comprised of both general education and core classes, providing students a solid foundation for acquiring management skills that can be applied across industries.

General Education. Students begin the Associate of Science in Management degree program at CTU by completing courses that help them to become more knowledgeable in general, but also to be better thinkers and decision-makers. Students take 57 quarter-credits in general education, which comprises a significant portion of their ASM education. Some of these classes include:

    • Algebra for Business
    • Composition and Critical Thinking
    • Introduction to Psychology
    • Speech Communications

From the sciences to math and writing to social studies, students gain new skills in post-secondary schooling at CTU by learning how discipline and effort apply to success in an education. Students also can choose between an elective or an Academic and Career Success course, which can help them to develop career-planning strategies. According to an article on LinkedIn, a career development plan can help individuals to build confidence and take steps toward success.2

Core Education. The core education part of the ASM program truly puts students on the path to developing career-specific skills in management. Whether this is through knowledge about human resource functions, such as recruiting and performance appraisals, or how leadership and management structures affect organizations, students begin to understand the basic functions of organizations from the ground up. In all, they complete 36 quarter-credits in the core education component of their program, with some of these classes including:

    • Business Law
    • Contemporary Business Trends
    • Management of Human Resources
    • Management Fundamentals

Students also have the opportunity to complete electives in business coursework as well as an additional elective course in any area of interest. A 200-level Career Planning and Management course is required, reiterating the importance of career planning and readiness at CTU.
