How has CTU been part of your educational and professional path?
Choosing CTU to further my education was one of the best decisions I have made. I spent the last 10+ years homeschooling my children while putting my own education on hold. The weakened economy and a SURPRISE! downsize shook up our family and made me realize that I needed to get busy pursuing my dreams. I began pursuing my Associate Degree in Business Administration in May 2010, graduating with a 4.0 GPA in September 2011. With that first goal completed, I immediately began to work on my Bachelor of Science Degree. As a certified fitness trainer in a sluggish economy, I realized that having my education complete would help me to broaden my options. I would be able to seek employment in health club management, be better equipped to open my own gym...or perhaps head off in another direction entirely. After researching which online education environment was right for me, I settled on CTU. One thing that impressed me greatly was the willingness of other students to mentor the newbies. I appreciated having someone who had "been around the block" share his/her experiences with me. When I was offered the opportunity to become a CTU student mentor, I jumped at the chance because I firmly believe in "paying it forward." Many students pursuing online degrees have been out of the educational loop for quite sometime - having been in the same boat myself, it is an honor to offer encouragement and support just as it was offered to me.
