Wounded Warrior Scholarship Recipient Sets His Goals High

CTU Wounded Warrior Recipient Barry HooperBarry S. Hooper, a 2014 Wounded Warrior Scholarship recipient, chose his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Healthcare Management program to help fulfill an important mission.  After his time in the U.S. Army, Barry wants to pay it forward and says his goal for obtaining a degree at CTU is to get a job “working with the government in support of Wounded Warriors or working at VA supporting Veterans.”

The Healthcare Management degree program is a great fit for his aspirations.  Barry said conversations with his success coach were instrumental in selecting the right program and maximizing the credits he will receive for what he has already learned. “CTU understands how to transition military schools into credits that transferred into my degree program and this process was smooth.”  Barry also went on to say that before he received his final schedule all of his transfer credit had been applied, which greatly reduced the timeframe for receiving his degree.

In addition to the educational benefits that attending school has afforded him, there have other positive impacts.  “This opportunity is a dream come true for me and as time goes by I am gaining more confidence to be successful in my next life despite my physical limitations. I have no excuses for not getting my work done because CTU provides all the tools necessary for each student to master their educational goals.”

“Service members are primarily accustomed to having 100% support with life and career functions. This happened at CTU from the start of my degree program and the first time I signed into the virtual campus, navigating the site, understanding how to submit assignments, and completing research in the library. CTU has all bases covered to help ease my transition into the online learning environment.”  Additionally, he has found that intellipath™ has been crucial to helping him learn the material at his pace.

Barry encourages Wounded Warrior Scholarship recipients and all other incoming students to fully immerse themselves to get the maximum benefit from their education.  He also recommends that students make the same use of the various student support services at CTU that he has.  “Every department employee at CTU has gone out of their way to help me with any situation or problem that I may have. If you communicate with your Success Coach throughout your time at CTU, that person will go above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need to achieve all your educational goals.”
