How CTU Meets U.S. News & World Report Selection Criteria

The ranking methodologies used by U.S. News & World Report to select the 2016 Best Online Programs include student engagement; faculty credentials; student services and available technologies; peer reputation; and admissions selectivity. Only degree-granting programs delivered predominately online by regionally accredited institutions were considered.

“Earning recognition for Best Online Programs reaffirms CTU’s leadership in innovative learning technology,” commented Dr. Connie Johnson, chief academic officer and provost at Colorado Technical University. “We are advancing the delivery of higher education with our use of adaptive learning technology in the classroom and these U.S. News & World Report rankings are a true honor.”

The six Best Online Program rankings come on the heels of several other accolades for CTU’s learning technology programs and innovation initiatives. The Online Learning Consortium (OLC), which is dedicated to the advancement of online learning, awarded CTU its 2015 Effective Practice Award for use of intellipath™. The university also won the 2015 Distance Education Innovation Award for its use of intellipath for the school’s Master of Business Administration students from the National University Technology Network (NUTN), which honors innovative programs that improve and support distance education. Plus, the university received Elearning! Magazine’s 2015 Best of Elearning! honor for its virtual campus and adaptive learning platform, intellipath.

Many Colorado Technical University students are nontraditional learners, including military service members and their families, who need the flexibility of online education to balance their work and family responsibilities while pursuing a degree. In addition to its position on U.S. News & World Report’s 2016 Best Online Programs for Veterans list, CTU was also designated as a Best for Vets College by Military Times for a third time (2013, 2014, 2016).
