CTU’s Recent COS Career Fair Proves a Success for Students and Prospective Employers
On April 19th Colorado Technical University held its spring Campus Career Fair at our Colorado Springs Campus. This event was an opportunity for the university to connect students, graduates and community members with local companies and organizations that are looking to add educated and experienced talent to their ranks. This year’s fair set a new record for CTU’s career fairs with 26 prospective employers and over 160 attendees on hand.
Jayme Brown, CTU’s Campus Director of Career Services and the lead sponsor for the COS Campus Career Fair, is pleased with the overwhelming positive feedback that she received from students, community members, staff and employers. “The Career Fair was very well received by everyone who attended,” Brown said, “and it was an all-time record for our department.”
CTU is continually looking for ways to connect students with a wealth of exciting career opportunities, and the Campus Career Fair is just the latest event to bring together local industry leaders with recent and soon-to-be graduates from across the degree spectrum. From finance and law enforcement to retail and education, CTU welcomed an especially diverse group of businesses into the fold this year. Participating employers included the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Centura Penrose Hospital, Vectra Bank and the New Horizons Computer Learning Center.
During the two-hour event, students, alumni and community members were invited to bring a copy of their resume and to explore the many employer booths. Representatives from each company were on hand to discuss current job openings, answer questions and assist students who are exploring their career potential.
Vicki Dean, a representative for the United States Automobile Association (USAA), believes that the event was great for meeting applicants with a diverse range of skills and experience. “I talked with several good potential employees in the information technology, clerical and customer service fields,” Dean said. “I enjoyed the discussions that I had with students and was happy to provide insight about our company and the application process.”
Cincy Cartwright with Discover Goodwill added that this year’s event compared very favorably to past year’s fair. “This was the best CTU Career Fair that I’ve attended,” she said. “Well done.”
With the success of April’s Career Fair, Colorado Technical University looks forward to hosting more fairs in the near future at both their Colorado Springs and Aurora campuses. The next Career Fair is to be held on July 20th in Colorado Springs. Contact email@example.com for more details.
