Program: MBA - Logistics and Supply Chain Management Year: 2009

Balancing Work, Family, and Education

John M. took advantage of his tuition grant and employer reimbursement program to pursue his MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management online at CTU, graduating in 2009.

I began working for Lockheed Martin as an electronics assembler. I always wanted to go back to school, but I had started a family and believed it would be very difficult to work full time, raise my family, and attend school all at the same time. I earned my Associate of Science degree in 2001, my Bachelor of Science degree in 2007 and then my MBA from CTU in 2009. After 25 years, I am still with Lockheed Martin, although now I am a staff level logistics engineer.

Program: MSM - Business Management Year: 2008

I served for 11 years in the Navy as a ship's navigator. In the service you're given a path as to what your career field is going to be. But after leaving the service that roadmap was not there. I felt like a lack of knowledge and wanted to do more and I wanted to do it better. I thought going the CTU route would be the best because you had access to go to school anytime you wanted or anytime you could. I earned both my bachelors and my masters at CTU. It opened up a lot of doors for me. So now at this point in my life I'm an independent consultant in project management. Fortunately for me, my education at CTU allowed me to rebuild my roadmap and continue bringing forth great things within my career and my personal life.

I’M IN AND NOW I’m creating my own roadmap.

Program: Doctor of Computer Science - Enterprise Information Systems Year: 2009

Since completing my doctoral education I have been able to secure a tenured track faculty position at a state university. The doctoral program helped build a solid foundation for me to pursue a career in academia while the master’s program allowed me to be an engineering manager, program manager, and systems engineer in the defense & aerospace industry. CTU has and will continue to play a significant role in my professional path as a researcher.

I’M IN AND NOW I’m making an impact to the field of computer science and Information Systems (IS).

Job Title: CTU Faculty, Business and Management

Program: Doctor of Management - Organizational Development Year: 2009

Program: Master of Science in Management - Project Management Year: 2006

Program: Master of Science in Management - Business Management Year: 2005

My educational and professional background is very similar to our student population. I was a nontraditional student who had to work fulltime while attending college. I completed my master's online at CTU. I went on to teach at universities, published articles and books, and held appointments at CTU and other universities as a scholar researcher, professor, program chair, visiting fellow, entrepreneur-in-residence, lecturer, and now faculty at CTU.

I’M IN AND NOW I provide real world education for nontraditional students.

John P.

Program: BSBA - Project Management Year: 2007

I have aspired for many years to become a top HR professional and leader and because of my education I have definitely achieved many of my personal and professional goals. The best part about the CTU experience for me was the convenience of being able to balance working full-time while pursuing my lifelong dream of getting a bachelor's degree with a concentration in HR. While the courses were rigorous, they were also very convenient. I could take my classes at night, on the weekends and from just about anywhere I chose.

I’M IN AND NOW I’m in a great place in my life
