Prior Learning Assessment Credit

Prior Learning Assessment Advisors evaluate whether a student may receive credit for previous courses and military experience that may be eligible for transfer into the student’s degree program.
Colorado Technical University's Academics Department will review and evaluate your military training, courses, occupational specialties and traditional education for potential military college credits.* The evaluation will list your projected transfer credit. The Admissions Department can then develop a personalized degree plan showing how your military college credits can be applied to your preferred degree at CTU. We can also identify ways for you to complete the remaining degree requirements.
We use official military transcripts to develop your degree program. You should request and maintain copies of your transcripts for your own reference. You can obtain copies of your military transcript using the appropriate links here. Some branches allow you to request and receive your transcripts online; others must be requested in writing.
The American Council on Education (ACE)
ACE is a coordinating organization helping institutions and organizations advance the higher education system. This organization ultimately helps individuals by evaluating and recommending institutional, and some non-traditional education and training, allowing accredited educational bodies to accept credit recommendations. Colorado Technical University uses ACE recommendations to award you transfer credit for your military experience and training.
Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC)
Colorado Technical University is also a member of the SOC. The SOC is a consortium of approximately 1,700 colleges and universities that award associate and bachelor's degrees. The purpose of the network is to universally accept each network member school’s eligible transfer credits.
The Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard have access to the SOC, which also uses the ACE Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experience in the Armed Forces as the basis for evaluating military training and experience.)
