First Time Students Pursuing an Online Degree at CTU

First Time College Students

What is S.O.A.R.?

S.O.A.R. (Student Orientation and Academic Readiness) is a new initiative designed for those who do not have previous college transfer credits as they begin their CTU degree. S.O.A.R. begins with a course called Building a Foundation for Success that helps you adjust to the online learning environment. You are introduced to a learning tool that can help develop skills that could help you academically. For additional support, you are assigned a student advisor who can serve as a helpful guide as you navigate the adjustment to online learning and your first college course.

What are the benefits of S.O.A.R.?

S.O.A.R. gives you an opportunity to experience college and our award-winning Virtual Campus.*  College credit will be awarded after successful completion of the Building a Foundation for Success course and can help prepare you to move forward in your chosen degree program.  If you fail or withdraw from the course, you have the option to retake the course one additional time or leave CTU without incurring a tuition charge for the course.

Why are we offering S.O.A.R.?

Beginning a new endeavor such as college can sometimes be overwhelming.  We believe it is important for you to feel prepared to pursue a degree at CTU.  By participating in S.O.A.R. you can benefit by learning more about your readiness to complete a college degree. In short, we want you to be confident about your ability to benefit from a CTU educational experience early in your degree program.
